Nikon Z5II FX-format Mirrorless Camera Body

Nikon Z5II FX-format Mirrorless Camera Body

Nikon Z5II FX-Format Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only)

The New Standard for Entry-Level Full-Frame

Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Nikon Z5II completely redefines what creators should expect from an "entry-level" full-frame mirrorless camera. By incorporating a new 24.5-megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor and the blazing-fast EXPEED 7 processing engine (borrowed from Nikon's higher-end models), the Z5II delivers a massive leap in low-light performance, autofocus intelligence, and overall speed.

Whether you are stepping up to full-frame for the first time, looking for a highly capable hybrid camera for both stills and video, or needing a reliable backup body for professional shoots, the Z5II offers a tremendously powerful feature set. It boasts advanced deep-learning autofocus, robust in-body image stabilization, and class-leading electronic viewfinder brightness, making it a joy to use in any lighting condition.

Why You'll Love This Camera

  • 24.5MP BSI-CMOS Sensor: The move to a backside-illuminated (BSI) sensor is a major upgrade. It gathers significantly more light than the original Z5, providing cleaner images at high ISOs and vastly improved dynamic range for recovering shadows in post-production.

  • EXPEED 7 & Deep-Learning AF: Powered by Nikon's latest processor, the autofocus system is transformed. It automatically detects and tenaciously tracks nine different types of subjects, including people (faces/eyes), birds, dogs, cats, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trains, and airplanes.

  • 7.5-Stop In-Body Stabilization: The 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) system has been upgraded to provide up to an incredible 7.5 stops of shake correction. This allows you to shoot handheld at surprisingly slow shutter speeds in low light without introducing blur.

  • Blistering Speed: When the action peaks, the EXPEED 7 processor allows for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 14 frames per second with the mechanical shutter, or a staggering 30 frames per second using the silent electronic shutter (JPEG only).

  • Class-Leading EVF: The electronic viewfinder features a sharp 3.69m-dot OLED panel that can reach a peak brightness of 3000 nits. This makes it incredibly easy to see your exposure and track subjects even when shooting in glaring, bright sunlight.

  • Uncropped 4K Video: For videographers, the Z5II can record crisp 4K UHD video at 30p utilizing the full width of the sensor (no crop). It also supports 10-bit HEVC and 12-bit N-RAW video internally for maximum color grading flexibility.

Things to Note

While the Z5II is an incredibly capable hybrid camera, video shooters should note that shooting 4K video at 60 frames per second applies a 1.5x (DX) crop to the sensor. This means your wide-angle lenses will appear significantly more "zoomed in" when shooting slow-motion 4K. If you need uncropped 4K/60p, you will need to step up to a more video-centric model like the Z6III.

Additionally, while it features dual card slots, they are both SD (UHS-II) slots. It does not accept the ultra-fast CFexpress Type B cards used in Nikon's higher-end cameras. This means the camera's buffer will take slightly longer to clear after shooting long, continuous bursts of RAW images at 14 frames per second.
