Because this is the Fujifilm Dedicated version, the metal contact pins on the hot shoe foot are specifically mapped to communicate with Fujifilm cameras. While you could technically mount it on a different camera brand (like Canon or Sony) and trigger lights manually via the center pin, you would completely lose TTL auto-exposure, High-Speed Sync, and the absolute power readout features.

Additionally, unlike the older, buttonless "Profoto Connect" (which used a built-in rechargeable battery), the Connect Pro is powered by three standard AAA batteries. This is a massive advantage for working professionals, as you can instantly swap in fresh batteries on set rather than waiting for an internal battery to recharge via USB.
