To achieve its miraculously small size, this lens utilizes an extending zoom barrel. The front of the lens physically telescopes outward as you zoom toward 200mm. Because of this shifting center of gravity, it is significantly more difficult to balance and operate on a motorized video gimbal compared to a traditional internal-zoom lens.

Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, this specific lens is NOT compatible with Canon's RF 1.4x or 2x Teleconverters. Due to the compact optical design, the rear glass elements sit too close to the camera mount, leaving no physical room to attach an extender.

Finally, while it is significantly lighter than older DSLR lenses, it still carries a premium professional price tag (retailing around $2,499).
